October 2018
College Knowledge for the Month of October
During the month of October, participating colleges offer incoming students the opportunity to apply to college for free!  Some colleges offer this free opportunity during a designated week in October, while some offer it the entire month of October.  An email was sent to you with the participating colleges.

If you have questions about college, need help setting up a college visit, or need help with the application process please don't hesitate to come to see me or Ms. Shea. We are more than happy to help you.  As a reminder, Ms. Shea is available Monday and Wednesday all day.  Feel free to email her for an appointment time eshea@isd116.org.

During the application process you will need to submit your most recent high school transcript.  Please make sure you print off the release form off of my website.  I am not able to send your transcript without the form filled out and returned to me.

FAFSA October 1, 2018
Seniors and their parents can start filling out the FAFSA using their 2017 tax information starting October 1, 2018.  An email was sent to parents and students detailing how to access the FAFSA online.  More information is under the Financial Aid tab on the counseling website.  There will be a financial aid meeting on Monday, November 5 at 6:00 pm in the Media Center for all seniors and their parents.

PSAT Testing, Wednesday, October 10
Juniors interested in taking the PSAT (Preliminary SAT) can sign up on Google.  A sign-up document was shared with all juniors regarding this testing opportunity. This is the only test that can qualify you for the National Merit Scholarship Program.  Please see Mrs. Turner for practice test booklet.
